Tax season is never the highlight of anyone’s year. It’s always a hassle to prepare your taxes. Then there’s the nagging aspect of actually having to fork over a huge portion of your salary to Uncle Sam. But at least he doesn’t waste it on the War in Iraq and pork projects.
The saving grace of it all is that even the President and Vice President must also pay their taxes. So how much did they pay? And how much did they earn?
According to Y! Buzz, the Obamas’ earned a combined income of over $2.6 million in 2008 and paid upwards of $1 million in taxes. That’s light years ahead of the Bidens’ income. They earned a measly $270,000.
So how did the Obamas’ manage to rake in that much moola? Simple: Obama wrote two books, you may remember “Audacity” and “Dreams”, which accounted for the majority of his income last year.
Now you can rest easy tonight knowing full well that the President and Vice President suffered just as much as you did if not more.

Rush Limbaugh is a talentless idiot which he further proved Friday by making harsh remarks about ailing, Senator Ted Kennedy who recently was diagnosed with brain cancer.
According to Yahoo! News, Limbaugh, a triple divorcé and somehow famous host, said on his radio show that “President Barack Obama’s proposed health care revisions will be championed by ‘the liberal lion Teddy Kennedy‘” and that “before it’s all over, it’ll be called the Ted Kennedy Memorial Health Care Bill.”
Now, granted Rush Limbaugh is too pigheaded to appreciate the implications of his statements, but I suppose when you use to be addicted to Oxycontin, attacking men with serious, sometimes terminal diseases is not beneath you.
Rush Limbaugh should be ashamed for two reasons: 1) I doubt that Obama or Kennedy would put their self-interests before that of the American people and 2) Kennedy has brain cancer! You don’t poke fun at people who may be dying.
Rush must simply be unaware of how idiotic he sounds up in his ivory tower. It’s shocking that the Republicans actually seem to approve of him and welcome him with open arms. He is after all their de facto leader.

President Obama has just completed his trip to Canada and was received not only warmly but with admiration and joy.
I must confess it is nice to have our president admired when he visits another country. When Bush went to Canada admiration was not what he got; rather protests and detestation!
I visited Toronto for a week about 5 years ago and admiring a United States president was not, at that time, something anyone I met could have conceived. We’ve clearly come a long way.
The purpose of President Obama’s visit was partially to reassure Canadians about NAFTA and to discuss Afghanistan with them. The Canadians are very likely withdrawing the small number of troops they have there.
Canada is a small example of a general trend. The world right now is optimistic about President Obama, very optimistic. The question is, can he hold that optimism and use it to restore the United States damaged and fallen image.
So far, it appears to me Obama can and will.
